"Professor Charles K. Kao: Father of Fibre Optics" Showcase Opening Ceremony in HKSTPC

“Professor Charles K. Kao : Father of Fibre Optics” Showcase was opened on 19 January 2011 in tribute to Professor Kao's outstanding achievements in scientific research. A grand opening ceremony was held with the presence of Professor and Mrs Kao as the Guest of Honour, and Mr Lau Hiu Fung "Hong Kong Hawking" and Miss Clara Lee On Kay as VIP Guests.

The showcase did not only aim to pay tribute to Professor Kao's achievements, but it also aimed to raise the public's interest in Science and Technology through interactive games and demonstrations of applications.

AppoTech, as one of the high-tech companies in HKSTP, actively supports and encourages technology promotions and is one of the sponsors of this event. Mr Chuck Cheng, CEO and President of AppoTech Ltd, had attended the showcase opening ceremony to express his support on this public education effort.
